Bionic lens for perfect vision

Interesting information appeared on the web the other day . Ocumetics Technology CEO Dr. Garth Webb announced that his company has succeeded in creating a bionic lens that solves visual acuity problems once and for all. So, this lens can not only improve visual acuity, but also forget about the existence of glasses or contact lenses. The lens itself is called Ocumetics Bionic Lens, and it took about eight years to develop. The total cost of the project is $ 3 million. In order to use such a lens, a simple operation is needed, the duration of which is only 8 minutes.

The operation consists in the introduction of a bionic lens into the eye with a syringe with normal saline solution. This operation is very similar to the procedure for removing a cataract. In this case, the lens is removed, it is replaced by a lens. Ocumetics Bionic Lens is injected in a folded form, and after insertion into the eye, the lens unfolds, taking its intended place in the eyeball. Immediately after that, the person can experience all the benefits of keen vision. According to the developers, vision is corrected once and for all, without deteriorating over time. Unfortunately, the developers do not report the details of the operation of the entire system, but they argue that after the introduction of the lens, the eye does not undergo any changes.

Ocumetics Bionic Lens has a number of benefits. For example, a person with such a lens will never get cataracts. In addition, surgery to insert a lens into the eye is much safer than laser vision correction. The company is now planning to conduct a series of clinical trials, which will be accompanied by the help of several prominent ophthalmologists. Most likely, the commercial implementation of the technology will be implemented already in 2017. There is only one limitation for Ocumetics Bionic Lens – only people over 25 years old can inject the lens, since the eyes continue to change until this age.
